Today we have been making edible art! We used food colouring to paint the Union Jack flag onto bread which Miss Quigley toasted for us! When it had cooled slightly we were able to eat our colourful creations!!! They were yummy!
We built a fantastic train station on our decking complete with ticket office, train and a track.
The children worked together designing and building the structures. The conductor used a hole punch to punch the tickets as the passengers boarded the train.
The children were keen to show off their phonic skills as they made signs, notices and tickets.
Great team work - well done everybody!!
Today we have been mixing our own powder paints! We measured the powder paint with spoons and added water drop by drop. We soon realised that too much water made the paint too thin for painting! We added more paint to thicken the mixture.
It was fun to mix the colours making lighter and darker shades and a whole spectrum of new colours!!!
Today lots of the boys decided to make a safari park for the wild animals.
Ewan made a train for the visitors so they decided to draw a track around the outside of the park first.
Then they sorted the animals and made cages with double fences to keep the people and the gentle animals safe from the lions!!
They used their phonic skills to make signs and labels to describe the animals.
Then it was feeding time so we talked about the different foods each animal ate.
The boys are very proud of their safari park and have enjoyed playing it.
They had lots of fun whilst developing their maths and literacy skills, their imagination and of course their social skills too!!!
I wonder what they will create next...
