today the deconstructed role play area became a fire station and fire engine. The children worked together transforming the space and fitting out the fire engine. Then they needed to qualify as firefighters so they organised their own fire fighter school. They had to pass a strict fitness test and answer some health and safety questions before being awarded with their badges!!! The children had lots of fun whilst practising their literacy and numeracy skills!
today we have been baking teddy bear biscuits. We measured the ingredients and worked together to mix, roll and cut the shapes! The infant building has smelt delicious all day and we can't wait to taste our shortbread biscuit bears! If the weather is kind tomorrow we may have our very own little teddy bear picnic!
We have had a fantastic school trip today. The sun and all the ducks and geese came out to see us. Some of us were lucky enough to see the 4 new baby otters!
we have had a very busy day - feeding ducks, bird spotting, pond dipping, hunting for mini beasts and making minibeasts from natural materials found in the wood.
The children decided to turn our role play area into a castle. They worked together to create a working drawbridge, a sentry box, thrones, flags and battlements!! They created fabulous pictures of kings and queens to hang in the great hall of the castle too.
They worked with a partner to measure each other's heads to make crowns that fit. One of the girls lost her crown and this developed into a mystery that needed solving which in turn led to some fantastic creative writing!
The children loved sharing their stories ' Queen Beth's Missing Crown'.
